An RF cable assembly terminated without dimensional verification of the inner conductor protrusion will have a VSWR bump at the connector interface that does not show up in a DC continuity test — only in a VNA sweep at frequency. The difference between a 1.3:1 VSWR and a 1.05:1 VSWR at 10 GHz is the difference between a cable assembly that meets your system noise figure and one that limits your receiver sensitivity.
